Common questions

About online counselling

Does online counselling work as well as in person?

For many people, yes. Research on video counselling for anxiety, depression and trauma shows good results, and many clients find it easier to open up from their own space.

Can EMDR be done online?

Yes. Online EMDR uses on-screen eye movements or self-tapping, with the same preparation and grounding as in-person sessions.

What do I need for an online session?

A private, quiet space, a phone, tablet or computer with a camera, a stable internet connection, and headphones if others are nearby. You'll get a secure link before each session.

Do I have to live in Surrey?

No. Online sessions are available anywhere in British Columbia. You need to be in BC at the time of each session.

Is online counselling private?

Sessions use a secure video platform built for health care. Nothing is recorded. Choosing a space where you won't be overheard is the most important part of keeping it private.
