Why an intensive

A different rhythm, the same careful work.

Weekly sessions and intensives are two ways of doing the same EMDR. Weekly work builds steadily over time. An intensive sets aside one longer, uninterrupted block.

With three to four hours, we can prepare, process and settle in one sitting, with breaks whenever you need them. Some people prefer that focus, or find it easier to set aside one morning than to come in every week.

The same EMDR, at the pace you set. Just a different format.

It can suit you if

Who it's for

  • A specific event still feels present: a crash, an assault, a sudden loss
  • You'd like to focus on one memory or theme in a dedicated block of time
  • Your schedule makes weekly sessions hard to keep up
  • You're travelling in from outside Surrey and want to make the trip count

It's usually not the right first step if you're in crisis right now or things are very unstable at home. We'll talk honestly about fit on your free consultation.

How it works

Prepare. Process. Follow up.

Common questions

About EMDR intensives

What is an EMDR intensive?

A longer block of EMDR, three to four hours with breaks, instead of a regular weekly session. It's the same approach in a different format: one focused, uninterrupted block of time.

Is an intensive right for me?

It often suits a specific event or memory, such as a crash, an assault or a sudden loss, or people whose weekly therapy feels stuck. It's usually not the right fit if you're in crisis right now, or if things are very unstable at home. We'll work out together whether it fits on your free consultation.

Do I need to prepare first?

EMDR always starts with grounding skills and a clear plan for what we'll work on. If you're new to EMDR, we may suggest a regular preparation session first. If you already work with me, we can usually go straight into the intensive.

Will one intensive be enough?

Sometimes, especially for a single event. Complex or long-standing trauma usually takes more than one. We'll agree on a realistic plan before you book, and review it together at your follow-up check-in.

Is it covered by insurance?

You'll get a receipt to claim from your extended health plan. Plans differ in how they handle longer sessions, so check your coverage for a Registered Clinical Counsellor before booking.

Can I do an intensive online or in Punjabi or Hindi?

Yes. Intensives are available in person in Surrey or online anywhere in BC, in English, Punjabi or Hindi.
